How to use Daily Agent — chat, productivity tools, agent mode, and customization.

Getting Started

Sign up with your email, password, and access code
Land on the Dashboard

Chat

Starting a conversation

Click New Chat or start typing. A title is auto-generated from your first message.

Model selector

Click the model name in the chat input to switch models. You can change the model mid-conversation.

Streaming

Responses stream in real time. Click Stop to cancel — the partial response is saved.

Per-message info

Token counts and cost are shown for each message.

Export

Export any conversation as Markdown or JSON from the conversation menu.

Agent Mode vs Chat Mode

Agent Mode (default)

Agent Mode gives the AI access to 13 tools across your productivity data:

7 read-only tools — execute automatically without approval
6 mutation tools — require your approval before running
1 search tool — web search via Tavily (if configured)

Chat Mode

A clean chatbot with no tools. Best for general conversation, coding help, and brainstorming.

Switching modes

Toggle between modes in the chat input bar. The mode persists per conversation.

Productivity Tools

Tasks

Franklin Covey A/B/C priority system. Supports drag-to-reorder, daily rollover, recurring tasks, and project linking.

Habits

Weekly completion grid with streaks and sparklines. Shows completion rates, 30-day heatmaps, and configurable target days.

Journal

Auto-saves as you type. Includes mood tracking, AI-generated writing prompts, and full-text search across all entries.

Workouts

Create and use workout templates. Track active sessions, total volume stats, and personal records.

Focus Timer

Pomodoro-style timer with task linking. Displays a 7-day focus chart.

Goals

Set goals with target dates. Link to related tasks and habits. Goals are surfaced in AI-prioritized briefings.

Dashboard

Overview of all widgets. Includes your daily briefing and proactive insight cards.

Weekly Review

AI-generated summary of your week across all productivity data.

Calendar

Monthly calendar view with activity dots. Click any day to see a detail panel with tasks, habits, and journal entries.

AI Features

Daily Briefing

Generated once per day and cached. Refresh it manually at any time. A Plan my day link pre-populates a chat with your context.

Proactive Insights

The AI monitors your data and surfaces encouragement, warnings, and suggestions without being prompted.

In-Tool AI Assist

Context-aware AI help throughout the app:

Journal — writing prompts
Tasks — task breakdown suggestions
Habits — coaching based on your streaks
Workouts — workout suggestions

Conversation Search

Full-text search across all your past conversations.

Web Search

Toggle web search per-message. The AI queries Tavily, optionally summarizes results, and includes inline citations in the response.

Settings

Profile

Set a system prompt, memory notes (always appended to context), preferred search model, and result count.

AI Model Config

Override which model is used for briefing, insights, AI assist, and tools independently.

Feature Toggles

Enable or disable context injection, tool calling, and the daily briefing.

Theme

Choose Light, Dark, or System in Settings or the sidebar footer.

Projects & Organization

Projects

Group conversations under a project. Each project has a description, status, progress indicator, and an optional custom system prompt.

Conversation-level prompts

System prompt priority order:

Profile prompt
Default system prompt

Memory notes are always appended regardless of which prompt is active.

Usage & Budget

Usage Dashboard

View your spending charts, per-model breakdown, and trends over time.

Budget

Monthly budget set by your admin. You receive a warning at 80% usage and are blocked at 100%.

PWA

Daily Agent is installable as a Progressive Web App on iOS, Android, and desktop. On mobile, a bottom navigation bar respects safe area insets for notched devices.
